Synthetic Alternatives

Synthetic face stocks such as polypropylene, polyethylene, and PET film provide superior water, chemical, and abrasion resistance, making them the preferred choice for outdoor labeling, cosmetics, or industrial identification where durability outweighs material cost.

Adhesive Types and Bonding Performance

Permanent adhesives form a strong, lasting bond and are the standard choice for shipping labels, product identification, and any application where the label should not be removed intact. Removable adhesives allow labels to be peeled away cleanly after a defined period, useful for pricing labels or temporary promotions. Repositionable adhesives sit between the two, allowing multiple placements before final adhesion sets.

Bonding performance is not static. Initial tack, long-term holding power, and adhesive behavior under temperature and humidity extremes all vary by formulation, which is why adhesive selection should always be matched to the surface material and environmental conditions the label will encounter.

Release Liner and Application Considerations

The release liner protects the adhesive layer before use and provides the structural backbone that allows labels to run smoothly through high-speed application equipment. Glassine liners are widely used for their smooth, dense surface and cost efficiency, while film liners such as PET offer greater dimensional stability and are preferred for high-speed or precision labeling operations.

Matching face stock, adhesive, and liner to the intended application, whether logistics, retail, or industrial identification, ensures the finished label performs reliably from the moment it is printed to the point it reaches its final surface.
